Here’s another episode of Green Smoothie Q&A where I answer a viewer’s question about why your mouth and throat might be irritated after eating kiwi fruit.

Also, is it okay to use packaged coconut water instead of chopping into a fresh young coconut to save time?

Thanks Davey! How fun to be addressed directly in your video :)

It never occurred to me that the kiwifruit might be under ripe… I’ll experiment some more with selecting ripe fruit.

Thanks for your website! I have been having fun making smoothies again – throwing together whatever fruit & vegetables I have on hand! Some have been quite tasty, while others… eh. In any case, it’s refreshing to find recipes that don’t always call for yogurt or milk and added sweeteners.

    Best regards,
    Terry

I have eosinophilic esophagitis and I get the same kind of symptoms when I eat kiwifruit and bananas and many kinds of berries. That could explain it if the problem isn’t underripe fruit.
