Red pepper SmoothieA reader, Elle, sent in this recipe for us to try. I have never used bell peppers in a smoothie before and I was curious to try this one. I gathered my ingredients and was pleasantly surprised at this brilliantly colored, orange-red smoothie! It was delicious and sweet.

Sunrise Surprise Smoothie Recipe

  • 2 handfuls of red grapes
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 1 apple, cored
  • 4 ounces of filtered water

Start by adding the liquid to your blender (I use a Vitamix), followed by the soft fruit. Add the greens to your blender last. Blend on high for 30 seconds or until the smoothie is creamy. I could probably have used a little less than 4 ounces. These are water-rich fruits so you will not need as much water as you usually would use for a green smoothie.

Variations

This smoothie is quick and easy to make because it is so simple. After I drank a glass as is, I added a large bunch of raw baby spinach and made it a green smoothie, which tasted just fine.
