Kiwi-Apple-Avocado Smoothie
Fruit smoothies are great but adding a little healthy fat to your smoothie has many advantages. This recipe calls for avocado, which besides being a good source of vitamin E are also high in beta-sitosterol, a compound that has been shown to lower cholesterol levels. They’re also rich in folate and can protect against strokes, heart disease and high blood pressure.
I didn’t add greens to this smoothie, but you can if you want to. I recommend adding at least two handfuls of fresh baby spinach as it has a mild flavor. If you are feeling adventurous, try adding dandelion greens.
Kiwi-Apple-Avocado Smoothie Recipe
- 1 large organic apple, cored
- 1 large kiwi, peeled
- 1/2 a large avocado, peeled and pitted
- 6 to 8 ounces of filtered water
Add all the ingredients to your blender, (I use a Blendtec) and blend on high for 30 seconds or until the smoothie is creamy.
Because the avocado makes the smoothie thick, you might want to add a little more water. Start with 6 ounces and add as needed.
