Green Goodness SmoothieI made this as a pre-workout smoothie the other day, so I added protein powder.

Mangoes are a super fruit high in dietary fiber as well as vitamins A, B6 C, E and K, while avocados promote the absorption of certain nutrients such as lycopene and beta carotene.

Both flax seeds and avocados are high in omega-3 and add enough healthy fat to give you a boost of energy.

Oranges have been shown to lower high blood pressure and cholesterol as well as having anti-inflammatory properties.

Green Goodness Smoothie Recipe

  • 1 orange, pealed
  • 1/2 mango, peeled and pitted
  • 1 scoop of protein powder (I use rice protein)
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 2 cups chopped Swiss chard (or other leafy green)
  • 1/4 avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 4 to 6 ounces of filtered water

Add all the ingredients except for the greens to your blender and hit the “pulse” button a few times. Next, add the greens and blend on high for 30 seconds or until the smoothie is creamy.

NOTE: If you don’t have a high powered blender, you’ll want to grind the flax seeds in a coffee grinder first.
