Cherry Chocolate Almond Green Smoothie Recipe
This is a delicious, reader submitted recipe from Heidi. I was surprised at how chocolaty it was and the undertones of cherry accented the rich chocolate flavor nicely.
It’s rich, thick, chocolaty, fruity and oh so yummy!
Heidi’s recipe called for cacao nibs (pieces), but I used cacao powder because that’s what I had.
I used unsweetened almond milk, which I bought at the store instead of making it myself. You can certainly make your own if you have a nut bag.
Cherry Chocolate Almond Smoothie Recipe
- 10-12 ounces almond milk
- 1 ounce cacao nibs
- 2 cups or handfuls of fresh organic spinach or other leafy green
- 1 cup frozen organic cherries
- 1 organic banana, peeled
- 1 small organic apple, cored
- 2 tablespoons ground flax seed (optional)
- 1 tablespoon raw agave nectar (optional, if you like it sweet)
Add all the ingredients except for the spinach greens to your blender, (I use a Blendtec) and hit the “pulse” button a few times. Next, add the spinach and blend on high for 30 seconds or until the smoothie is creamy.
