Banana-Papaya-Blueberry SmoothieBlueberries and papaya are both high in antioxidants and blend together deliciously in smoothies. I like to use wild frozen blueberries because I can buy them in bulk and they’re great for giving the smoothie a nice chill on a warm day.

Papayas taste better when they are very ripe. I usually get the big green ones in the store and let them sit on the counter until the skin turns yellowish and the fruit softens up. However, less ripe papaya contains a concentrated source of the beneficial enzyme papain, which helps digest protein.

I blended bananas to help give this smoothie it’s creamy texture and sweeten it up a bit more. It tastes like banana and blueberry, but I wanted to add the papaya for the extra antioxidants.

Banana-Papaya-Blueberry Smoothie Recipe

  • 2 organic bananas, peeled
  • 1 cup papaya, cubed
  • 1 cup wild frozen blueberries (or use fresh)
  • 4 to 6 ounces of filtered water

Add all the ingredients to your blender and blend on high for 30 seconds or until the smoothie is creamy.

You can make this smoothie a green smoothie by adding 2-4 cups of your favorite leafy green like kale, baby spinach, chard, collard or dandelion greens.
