Here’s a quick and easy smoothie that will give you a good dose of vitamin C. It’s a vibrant yellow, low fat and low calorie smoothie. Vanilla blends with banana and orange to give a sweet, citrus flavor with a hint of the tropics. I didn’t add greens to this recipe, but of course you can add greens if you want.

Banana-Orange-Vanilla Smoothie Recipe

  • 1 large organic banana, peeled
  • 1-2 inches of chopped vanilla bean *
  • 1 large orange, peeled
  • 4 to 6 ounces filtered water

Add all the ingredients to your blender and blend on high for 30 seconds or until the smoothie is creamy.

* If you are using a high-speed blender such as the Vita-Mix or Blendtec Total Blender, simply chop 1-2 inches of a whole vanilla bean and add it to your smoothie before blending. If you are not using a high-speed blender, cut the vanilla bean lengthwise, spread apart and scrape the seeds out. Add the seeds from 1/2 to a whole vanilla bean according to taste. Additionally, you can use 1 teaspoon of organic vanilla extract, but I recommend using a vanilla bean if possible.
