Apple-Berry Smoothie Recipe
Apples and berries taste great together, especially in a smoothie. A lot of our readers have been asking for smoothie recipes that do not have banana, so here’s a good one. The most predominate flavors are blueberry and strawberry with just a hint of apple.
Blueberries are an excellent source of antioxidants and apples helps facilitate detox as well as adding lots of fiber. This smoothie has 49% of your daily recommended value of fiber.
You can use frozen strawberries OR blueberries which will chill this smoothie nicely for a hot day. I wouldn’t recommend using both frozen strawberries and blueberries because you’ll end up with a frozen mess in your blender!
Apple-Berry Smoothie Recipe
- 1 cup wild blueberries (frozen or fresh)
- 1 large organic apple
- 2 cups organic spinach or other leafy green
- 1 cup organic strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 4 to 6 ounces filtered water
Add all the ingredients except for the spinach to your blender and hit the “pulse” button a few times. Next, add the rest of the spinach and blend on high for 30 seconds or until the smoothie is creamy.
If apples are not in season, try making this recipe with peaches or nectarines (use one large or two medium). Of course, banana thickens and adds a nice texture as well.
