Our Raw Food Diet Grocery Shopping List
We get asked frequently about what we eat in a week. Well, here is our typical raw food diet grocery shopping list from the week of June 6, 2010. This is for a weeks worth of food for both Davy and I on the 80/10/10 diet.

16 or so bunches organic bananas – 35.68 lb (pounds)
1 Watermelon – 13.92 lb
1 bunch red grapes – 1.22 pounds lb
2 organic pears – 1 lb
2 organic red peppers – 1.25 lb
2 lemons – 0.87 lb
3 organic apples – 1.48 lb
3 large Caribbean red papayas – 18.29 lb
4-5 large pineapples
18 large mangoes
organic strawberries – 8 pounds
3 avocados
1 package of Campari vine tomatoes – 2 lb
1 bag frozen blueberries – 4 lb
3 navel oranges
Greens
organic kale – 8 large bunches
organic Swiss chard – 2 bunches
organic baby spinach (3 lb)
organic romaine lettuce – 3 heads
organic curly parsley (2 large bunches)
Organic dandelion greens – 6 large bunches
Nuts/Seeds
In this particular week, we did not buy any nuts or seeds. We typically purchase small amounts every few weeks and eat no more than a tablespoon of flax seed each day as well as one Brazil nut (for the selenium). On days where we don’t eat avocado, we’ll each have 1/4 cup or less of either cashews or sunflower seeds.
Other
1 bunch red radishes
1-2 bottles of kombucha
fava beans – 0.72 lb
2 heads of organic celery
2 organic cucumbers
1 organic zucchini
1 head organic cauliflower
Monthly Purchases
NutriBiotic Vegan Rice Protein Powder
Dulse flakes (sea vegetable – great source of iodine and trace minerals)
Nori sheets (sea vegetable)
The Vitamin Code Raw B12 capsules
Naturally, our shopping list changes with the season depending on which fruits or greens are in season. We try to vary things on our list but our overall fruit staples are pineapples, mangoes, papaya and bananas because they are high-calorie fruit.
Whenever possible, we purchase organic and base our decision on whether or not to buy organic produce based on the EWG’s Shoppers Guide to Pesticides.
We shop at 4 different stores to get deals on produce. Costco, Whole Foods and Stanley’s Fruits and Vegetables in Chicago are our primary shopping locations as well as our local supermarket for things we need mid-week. We purchase groceries once per week and restock our bananas mid-week since they get too ripe if you leave them out for the whole week.
