Green Smoothies For Health, Energy and Weight Loss
Green smoothies are the wonder food of the 21st century! They have become a popular staple among health-conscious people who praise their health benefits ranging from weight loss to increased energy and mental focus.
What Are Green Smoothies?
Green smoothies are just like fruit smoothies that you are familiar with, but with the addition of dark, leafy greens such as spinach, kale, chard or romaine lettuce. Greens are among the healthiest foods we can eat and many experts say that they should make up a significant portion of our diet. Unfortunately, many people do not enjoy eating spinach by the handful or taking an hour or so to chew a huge salad at lunchtime. That is why these smoothies are so great! Through blending greens with fruit, you not only mask the vegetable flavor, but you can enjoy a delicious smoothie while on the go. It’s much faster, more portable and easier to deal with than a large salad. Green smoothies are simply the easiest way to get more greens into your diet!

How To Make Them
Green smoothies usually use water or coconut water as the liquid to help mix ingredients. Then 40% leafy greens are blended with 60% sweet fruits into a rich, creamy texture using a high-powered blender. You can get creative and add other things to a smoothie as well such as tomato, carrots, celery and cucumber. I sometimes add protein powder to mine. Green smoothie recipes generally do not call for yogurt or milk. The reason for this is that your “creamy” base is composed of fruit. Delicious Recipes
The first green smoothie I ever made was simple. I blended one whole banana with a large handful of spinach and added one cup of water. After my first sip, I was hooked! I was able to get my daily recommended intake of leafy greens while drinking a delicious banana-flavored smoothie! I could not taste the spinach at all because the banana covered it up! Since then, my wife and I have branched out and experimented with all sorts of fruits and vegetables. Browse our smoothie recipe pages for tasty creations and ideas.
