Blendtec might be a good blender but made in USA makes a big difference to me. I have not found any flaws in the Vitamix. It does exactly what its name implies and then alot more. The Vitamix ROCKS! I had the Vitamix and besides being too tall to go under the counter, it required me to decide all the speeds to use and had a dial for speed. All I have to do with the Blendtec is to press ONE button and it goes through cycles and out comes a wonderful green smoothie. For me, the Blendtec is the BEST! I have the wildside and it is awesome. I do love my Vitamix, it is a terrific machine, but I seem to always use my Blendtec inspite of the fact I have both of them on my counter. I'm amazed at how quickly and beautifully my green smoothies turn out. I bought it at Costco and so received the extended 7 year warranty also. Blendtec's traveling showcase is at my local Costco again today - I'm heading over in a few minutes to buy three more for my family for Christmas - I have no doubt this will be one of the best Christmas gifts ever. Since the Vitamix is 100% made in America, I'll buy the Vitamix. I don't care how many screws in the Blendtec come from China, I want to support quality American-made products. And, since this is one of the few products made in the USA, I think Americans really need to consider that factor in choosing. I made a conscious decision to buy American.
